Known as the "King of the B Movies," the legendary filmmaker Roger Corman died on May 9 at the age of 98. Corman specialized in making low-budget genre movies with titles like "The Wasp Woman," "Attack of the Crab Monsters," and "Teenage Caveman." Corman hired these directors in the early stages of their careers to helm low-budget features that the filmmakers have acknowledged as learning experiences they applied in their later larger-scale productions. In fact, many of these directors hired Corman in small acting roles in movies like "The Godfather Part II," (Coppola), "The Silence of the Lambs" (Demme), and "Apollo 13" (Ron Howard). In the interview, Corman shares myriad lessons learned while working in the film industry for more than 60 years.

Jeannie Epper had at least 100 screen roles, maybe even 150 — no one is quite sure. But because she was a stunt double, galloping on horseback, crashing cars and kicking down doors for the stars of films and television shows, hers was not a household name. In her heyday, however, Ms. Epper was ubiquitous. She hurtled through the air most weeks as Lynda Carter’s stunt double on the hit television series “Wonder Woman” and mimed Ms. Carter’s leggy lope. Ms. Epper, whose bruising career spanned 70 years, died on Sunday at her home in Simi Valley, Calif. She was 83.

To play the corpulent evil Baron Vladimir Harkonnen in "Dune: Part Two," the 72-year-old Swede spent eight hours a day in the makeup chair. When it came time to choose between wearing prosthetics or simply doing his scenes with motion-capture dots on his face, Skarsgård opted for hours in the makeup chair. This week’s recap is posting earlier than usual because the episode premiered Friday on Max. Season 4, Episode 5: Part 5She’s awake. After last week’s episode spend too much time fussing over underdeveloped subplots and supernatural occurrences, this week’s hour snaps to attention like a procrastinating student who had been putting off a term paper. Their only feasible guide is Otis, a cagey German heroin addict with scorched eyeballs who once mapped the caves. They manage to get to base of the cave, but it is on mine company property and the entrance has been blown to pieces.

Journal Editorial Report: Pressure mounts on the Jewish state to 'pause.' Images: AP/Getty Images Composite: Mark KellySince Oct. 7 I keep thinking of Jack Nicholson , as a Marine colonel in “A Few Good Men,” bellowing “You can’t handle the truth.” I think of this line in respect to friends of Israel who are shocked by the bestiality of that day’s attack, as if history didn’t furnish examples and the assault wasn’t designed to achieve a desired effect. I think of the Nicholson line in respect to students who cheer on Hamas from their campus safety, having no real conception of violence and expecting to be shielded from even having their feelings hurt. (If the draft makes a comeback, they will have some growing up to do.)

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Burt Young, the Oscar-nominated actor who played Paulie, the rough-hewn, mumbling-and-grumbling best friend, corner-man and brother-in-law to Sylvester Stallone in the “Rocky” franchise, has died. Bo Goldman, one of Hollywood’s most admired screenwriters, who took home Oscars for his work on “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1975) and “Melvin and Howard” (1980), died on Tuesday in Helendale, Calif. The resulting movie, which starred Jack Nicholson as a rebellious new patient who disrupts a psychiatric ward, came out in 1975 and was a career maker. Mr. Goldman and Lawrence Hauben, who shared screenwriting credit, won the Oscar for best screenplay adapted from other material; the movie was also named best picture and earned Oscars for Mr. Forman, Mr. Nicholson and Louise Fletcher, who played the fierce Nurse Ratched. “Even then I hung my head,” Mr. Goldman wrote in a 1981 essay for The New York Times about the insecurities of a writer’s life. “After all, I had adapted somebody else’s work; was it really mine?”

But Would You Wear It?

But the lack of an actual person strutting the stage in Cupertino, Calif., wearing the product was a notable omission. And there may be no device Apple has made where aesthetics will matter as much as on this one. By making the Vision Pro look like goggles, Apple is wading into the shoals of pre-existing stereotypes, personality clichés and history. Maybe it will be possible to bedazzle the goggles (that would be fun) or add stickers or decorate the cord. Apple has clearly worked pretty hard on the fit, with all sorts of adjustable components, which is something.

CNN —Hollywood great Jack Nicholson watched the LA Lakers put on a dominant display against the Memphis Grizzles Friday in Game 6 of the first-round series. Kevork Djansezian/Getty ImagesDetermined to avoid a Game 7 in Memphis, the Lakers beat the second-seeded Grizzles 125-85 to end the series. Victory for the Kings, the third seeds, at home on Sunday would mean a first playoff series win in 19 years and would eliminate the defending champions. Malik Monk scored 28 points for the Kings, De’Aaron Fox ended with 26 points, including a game-high 11 assists, and Keegan Murray 15 points. Steph Curry scored 29 points for a Warriors team who did not come close to threatening the Kings.

Today, Low-Kramen said, a starting salary for a celebrity PA on call 24/7 can typically hit the low six figures.
